- Sift flour and add salt.
- Make the chocolate paste by combining cocoa, icing sugar and baking soda. Then add hot water to make a paste.
- Separate egg yolks from egg whites. Beat the eggwhites, add icing sugar little by little as you beat until all icing sugar is incorporated.
- Mix the egg yolks, oil and vanilla essence. Pour little by little to the egqwhites mixture as you beat untill all is combined and the mixture is fluffy and has peaks.
- Fold in half the flour with a spatula. Add the remaing flour and carefully fold until its smooth.
- Divide the batter in two equal parts A and B. Take 4 or 5 Tbsp from A and add to B. Pour the chocolate paste to A and combine. Now you have white and brown batter.
- Take your lined baking tin/loaf tin. Start alternating the batter. Start with 2Tbsp of white followed by 1 Tbsp of brown. Keep alternating and you will see beautiful lines forming.
- Place your cake batter in a 180• preheated oven and bale for 40 to 55 mins or until a skewer inserted at the center comes out clean.
- Leave it in the tin for 5mins before oveturning it on a cooling rack.
- When it has cooled nicely… Cut into slices and enjoy
